The Earps – Jackass Acres (2019)

Known for highly entertaining live shows that fall somewhere between Vaudeville, glam rock and R-Rated episodes of Hee Haw, The Earps’ musical stylings range from shitkickin’ rock anthems to Bakersfield honky tonk, with traces of Southern rock and rockabilly. It’s been said if you’re a fan of The Georgia Satellites, Nine Pound Hammer, Jason & The Scorchers, Dwight Yoakam, The Beat Farmers, or 80’s metal you’ll love The Earps.

Recorded & mixed by Bill ‘The Wizard’ Irvin, and mastered by the legendary Tony ‘Jack The Bear’ Mantz this rock album is as solid as the pyramids at Giza, featuring a plethora of new leg shaking rock numbers, and with a few intricate ballads thrown in for good measure, ‘Ride On’ is destined to be a classic. Come and celebrate with the boys, get your hands on the new album and watch them live in what is the best band-room in West Gippsland, The White Room at The Royal Hotel and – Ride On!

Hellnite – Midnight Terrors (2019)

Hellnite is a wonderfully cheesy moniker; they’re from the Americas; the angular logo suggests they play thrash metal (my number 1 passion in life), and they have song titles like “Phantom Force” and “Thrash Of The Living Dead”. So far, it all points to a rippin’ good time something in the vein of Merciless Death or Fueled By Fire. On Sliptrick Records’ website, the Mexicans list their influences as Kreator (which I totally get) and… Alestorm (which makes me question both their musical integrity and their sanity). Alas, what’s actually on offer on their debut full-length is more akin to a gruffer version of Iron Maiden with the occasional Flotsam & Jetsam-esque riff and the worst vocals this side of Dave Mustaine’s onstage voice.
