T-Rex front man Marc Bolan is said to have pioneered Glam’s fashion movement and crafted music that was sexy with a surprisingly arty edge. Glam was an opportunity for these artists to manipulate their personas at will, and as a result the fashion style and glitzy showmanship became part of the overall artistic statement.
