If you’re in the market for a female fronted Gothic influenced hard rock band, then one option stands out from the crowd: multinational act Evans & Stokes and its summer of 2017 independent debut full length Beyond The Gates. Multinational in terms of how Evans & Stokes follows a similar pattern as multinational cohorts The World Will Burn from also featuring a US based guitarist, John Evans, and a vocalist from New Zealand, Jenny Stokes. I think Cobrakill have the potential to come up with some good songs. That potential has not been reached on their debut three-song EP.
Lexi and White really need someone to sit down with them and get them to focus on writing simpler songs based on a few ideas rather than the pot pourri that can be found during the opening track. Overall, Cobrakill‘s presumably debut EP feels like some rough demos recorded in a garage with not much thought on song flow. I do like the EP cover which enticed me to put the CD on for a spin in the fist place.

John Rossall stands alone as a prime architect of an entire musical genre – glam, in this case – who’s still making fantastic music half a century after his rise to fame. Glam rock was fun and accessible – partly rooted in early rock nostalgia, though equally futuristic, yet it never forgot the ideal of rock music as celebratory and fun. Last Glam In Town is John Rossall’s finest work.
