Shining Black is a melodic metal band featuring vocalist Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen, Ring Of Fire, Royal Hunt) and guitarist Ölaf Thorson (Labyrinth, Vision Divine). New amazing cd Postcards From The End Of The World feat. Mark Boals & Olaf Thorsen soon.
Their self-titled debut (2020) showcased Thorsen’s innovative melodic metal songwriting techniques combined with Boals’ outstanding vocal skills. With “Postcards From the End of the World” Thorson and Boals present their second album, which again underlines the excellent collaboration between the two musicians. The album follows on from the debut and contains ten songs of modern power metal with the combination of Boals’ breathtaking vocals and Thorson’s searing guitar skills. Oleg Smirnoff on keyboards and piano, Nik Mazzucconi on bass and Matt Peruzzi on drums complete the line-up.
The roots of Thorson and Boal’s artistic collaboration date back to 2014, when Italian power/progressive metal band Labyrinth were faced with the dilemma of continuing without their longtime vocalist, Roberto Tiranti. The band invited Boals to join them and began work on new songs to be released on the band’s next album. However, Mark’s busy schedule did not match Labyrinth’s recording schedule at the time, and work together stalled. (Tiranti would eventually rejoin Labyrinth and release a new album, ‘Architecture of a God.’) Despite not being able to work together on Labyrinth, Mark and Olaf stayed in touch, and when the opportunity arose, the two artists seized on the suggestion Frontiers got the opportunity to work together and the Shining Black project was born!
Shining Black’s second album will once again wow power metal fans with its accomplished musicianship and powerful vocals… Attention Euro metal fans!
