In 2022 year Frontiers Music Srl is proud to announce the upcoming release of Swedish melodic rock band Treat‘s ninth studio album, The Endgame. With bassist Nalle Påhlsson (who was featured on “Coup De Grace”), vocalist Robert Ernlund, guitarist Anders “Gary” Wikström, drummer Jamie Borger and keyboardist Patrick Appelgren, they have once again set the course for another exciting musical journey.
A total of twelve songs, including up-tempo rockers, ballads, 80s gems and those with musical influences beyond the ordinary, make this album another definitive statement from the quintet from south Stockholm that they are part of the Swedish melodic hard rock scene are leading. Produced by Peter Mansson (who also wrote ‘Tunguska’ and ‘Ghost Of Graceland’), ‘The Endgame’ is without a doubt a true Treat classic.
“We always want to make albums that are better than the last. The album title to me represents many things about Treat today, including the sincerity and history of the band. But also the struggle to survive as a band like brothers in arms, through all of it the years with ups and downs, tears and laughter. Seriously, we grew up together in the 80’s and learned by heart how to make our brand of melodic hard rock and we’re still working hard on that today. That’s how we stand close as family and blessed that we’re still able to step into the ring and be at the top of our game,” says guitarist Anders Wikstrom. For a band that’s been around for nearly four decades, inspiration drives and the urge to create new material still drives Treat.
“For me, it always starts with the song and the exciting feeling that leads to the next and so on. As a longtime songwriter, I trust my gut, but I know that the material takes on a new and better form when the rest of the boys stepping into the creative cycle, and it’s important to remember that deep down we’re still kids, fans of great rock music, and still excited when a cool idea turns into a great song,” says Wikstrom, “We “We were focused on getting the best possible outcome for Treat and we all decided early on that this was going to be a positive and uplifting album to be proud of for years to come. I think we found the working process as our sane and safe haven in the midst of this new everyday life that none of us could have predicted would come about,” he continues. “We started recording the basic tracks at Atlantis Studios in Stockholm in November 2020, then moved to Baggpipe Studios and Peter Mansson’s Mir Studios in Spring/Summer 2021 for the lead vocals and overdubs and finished the mix at Mir Studios in Stockholm in October 2021.
Most of us have our own studios at home where we do additional recordings, but to get the sound we wanted for The Endgame we took the time to find the right recording rooms and studio facilities and we did Score speaks for itself!””Peter [Mansson] is one of the best rock producers I know and also a longtime friend. He knows us inside and out, with all the ins and outs, and is always willing to do whatever it takes to make our visions come true. His contribution to this album as producer, recording engineer and mixing engineer is outstanding. He’s also an excellent musician and has become almost like a sixth member of the gang, an amazing guy and we love him,” adds Wikstrom, adding, “We really hope our fans will love this album as much as we do because we made it for YOU!”
