heavy or hard rock was in transition – on the one hand you had the classic heavy bands – Zeppelin, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Sabbath, you know what I mean – and on the other you had the heavy but fast New Wave of British Heavy Metal – Saxon, Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head, Iron Maiden – who fused that short sharp blast of punk with metal.
