Rhino is an Italian band, which was formed in 2012. A year after (2013) they released their homonymous debut EP and in 2016, after a couple of line-up changes that occured in 2015, they finally released their debut full-length album. The debut features the new vocalist Frank ‘The Doc’ & new guitarist Frank ‘Real Tube’.
Rhino’s music can be described as a fuzzy heavy stoner/desert rock amalgam. They build up upon heavy rock riffs and their song structures are simple but rather heavy. Frank’s vocals are a bit “weird”… he has a kinda “raspy/throaty” voice that you either like or not. The production is good albeit too “fuzzy” for my linking.
Apart from the fact that for this kind of music it is better not to have lengthy tracks (over 4+ minutes), there are a few times when some tracks go over 6 minutes. It ain’t something bad but I prefer this music to be short and right to the point. Anyhow, this band addresses the fans of the genre so if you are one of them you know what to do… if not, you’d better stay away…
