It’s difficult to summarize in a few words the history and impact that a band like Nazareth has had in rock music history. After celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2018 with the release of their 24th studio album Tattooed On My Brain, the British hard rockers will celebrate their 54th studio album Surviving The Law in 2022 with the release of their 25th studio album Surviving The Law publish.
The line-up for “Surviving The Law” is the same as on the last release and consists of Jimmy Murrison (longest serving guitarist in the band’s history), Lee Agnew (drummer since Darrel Sweet’s death in 1999), Pete Agnew (founder, on bass) and vocalist Carl Sentance.
“Surviving The Law” continues the new chapter that began for the band in 2018 with the arrival of vocalist Carl Sentance (ex-Persian Risk, Don Airey). In 2014, original vocalist Dan McCafferty was forced to leave the band due to ill health and with his blessing, Sentance began fronting Nazareth. Tattooed On My Brain saw Nazareth as a rejuvenated band with a hard rock album that contained all the ingredients that make this band great in the first place. Like Tattooed On My Brain, Yann Rouiller produced Surviving The Law at Sub Station in Scotland. The album, which features all band members, continues the trend set by the previous album and shows that the fire of rock ‘n’ roll burns as brightly as ever after 25 albums at the core of Nazareth.
Formed in Dumferline, Scotland in 1968, Nazareth released their eponymous debut album in 1971. The band’s big break came when they toured supporting Deep Purple and released the Roger Glover-produced album Razamanaz in early 1973 to critical and fan acclaim. A string of hits followed, including Loud ‘N’ Proud, Rampant and the smash hit Hair of the Dog, released in April 1975. The album contained hits like the title track (later covered by Guns N’ Roses on their album The Spaghetti Incident?) and “Love Hurts”. Since then, the band has continued to release albums and tour around the world. In 2022 the band will celebrate their 54th anniversary – get ready for a welcome return from Nazareth!
