Chyna – In The Night 1995

1995 FLX Records indie release from AOR/Melodic Rock Artists Chyna with their impossible to be found nowdays album titled “In the Night”. This band hails from the New York/New Jersey area and they deliver passionate AOR/Melodic Rock with ties to The Misfits and killer guitar work.

There are elements of Dokken and Mr. Lucky and Kidd Wikked in spots, especially on the AOR tracks, “Heaven Knows” and anthemic “One Moment in Time”. Overall a wonderful eleven hook filled tracks. Reportedly, only 1000 of these CD’s were pressed.

Catwalk – Out Of Nowhere 2016

1466701678_cover
Listen, on the radio! It’s VAN HALEN! It’s EUROPE! It’s IRON MAIDEN! No, it’s CATWALK! And would you believe it, a band that thought they had seen their day decades ago has awoken from their cryogenic-freezing chambers and stepped out of their 20-year hiatus to bring you music from the past on a freshly-pressed record. The album, “…Out of Nowhere”, plain and simple, comes off as vintage as it gets in our digitalized age. The music sounds accurately analog, their style follow unwritten rules of days past, and even the cover art looks like a

Locust – Playgue 1976

his extremely obscure proto arena rock act sprang from Iowa in the early 70’s, becoming legendary in their home state while remaining unknown just about everywhere else. Their local fame brought them to Annuit Coeptus Records, who issued their sole release, “Playgue” in 1976. Though the band regularly landed supporting slots for many of the bigger acts touring through Iowa, they never managed to break through to very many other regions outside of the midwest.

Off The Edge – Unfinished Business 2002

South Africa has already come up with some very good Melodic Rock bands and Off The Edge surely is another one. The band was founded in the early 80’s and is still active today with a number of released albums. The vocals are fantastic, some of them female (different singers due to a few line-up changes). Another trademark are the great melodies and the excellent guitar work. Off The Edge fans will love this album, and fans of well-produced Melodic Rock and Nu-Prog will find a lot to like here, coming across like Axe or Megaforce era, 707,etc.
