The Way (Russell Arcara)- Frequency Of Spirit 2011

The bio might allude to many many album sales over the years for bands the guys in The Way have been involved with but the personnel here were unknown to my prior to me scooping this album up at a bargain basement price on line. Russell Arcara (admittedly that sounded a tiny bit familiar) takes care of vocal chores, piano/organ/synths are by Charli Calv and Stephen DeAcutis is on guitars and bass as well as drums, sequencing and… BGS?

Anyway the biggest claim to fame of this disc is perhaps Joe Lynn Turner on backing vox though there is a slew of additional musicians on instruments as varied as bass to trumpet. The whole shebang dates from 2005 on Atenzia Records and was produced by Stephen DeAcutis

The overall result here is fairly upbeat and mobile loud AOR that isn’t afraid to use some sax/trumpet combinations to accentuate groove and the bottom line in the tunes has slight touches of funk. Lyrically things here are pretty simple stuff, nothing shocking, nothing too unsafe or `weird’ is here. The vocals of Mr Arcara seem able to emote nicely and blandly enough, and his lines do skip along to the beat of the numbers fairly well.
